Professional Empowerment

The next step for young individuals living in institutional care is their professional empowerment and development aiming for their optimal integration into society. Mum Institute has designed a holistic professional empowerment program for young individuals, that took place for the first time at  the social welfare unit of Paidopoli Agia Varvara 2021-2022.

The program consists of 6 phases: empowerment – motivation, vocational orientation tests via video game, exploration of skills after the test, mentoring, job shadowing, evaluation and planning for the next day, creation of employment opportunities.

All the speakers are professionals with high guarantees of scientific, academic and vocational training, many years of experience and specialization in specific age groups as well as vulnerable social groups.

At Mum Institute, we believe that empowering and integrating young people into the work environment can reduce unemployment, eliminate crime and lead to a better society, a better country, a better world.

 

Through the program, the participants will be able to:

  1. To be validly informed about studies, professions and the evolving labor market.
  2. To learn to seek, process and evaluate information, as well as to explore alternative educational and professional outlets, aiming at lifelong professional development in today’s society of lifelong learning.
  3. To acquire a more complete knowledge of their personality traits, abil- ities, skills and values, factors that undoubtedly influence their educational and professional choices.
  4. To make the decision that suits them best according to the information they will have gathered through the program for the studies and profes- sions that interest them.
  5. To have a nice time, through a pleasant, interactive and constructive process that is tailored to each one individually.
  6. To meet great professionals who will be role models for their development.
  7. To build trusting relationships with their mentors and create a meaningful network early on.
  8. To visit real professional environments through job shadowing and gain essential experience from their visits and discussions with the professionals, facilitating their  deinstitutionalization and their smooth integration into the social context.
