A Job Shadowing Day at DOMA Books

A Job Shadowing Day at DOMA Books

The Job Shadowing phase of Mum Institute’s Professional Empowerment Program for Paidopoli Agia Varvara, continued with E. visiting the space of DOMA Books.

Currently E. is undertaking Educational Studies at the University of Athens, while she is also interested in psychology and creative writing, and on many occasions she has shown her talent in poetry!

During her job shadowing visit, she visited the DOMA Books’ new space. There she was welcomed by Marilena Karamolegkou, co-founder of the company. After a tour of the space, the two of them discussed for a period of 3 hours everything around DOMA: how the company started, their processes, the challenges they faced as well as the good times, the different positions found in the company and the expectations of a publication house, the way books are chosen, their translation, how the book cover is decided and in the end how the book is finalised in order to go to print.

E. showed great enthusiasm about publishing and asked many questions about her favorite topic of interest. The visit ended with receiving several wonderful books by DOMA as presents, including the essay Freedom by Ancient Greek poet Epictetus, the book that started the publications’ house journey.

We want to thank DOMA Books, and especially Marilena Karamolegkou and Daphne Karamolegkou for having us. We wish that they are always able to create happy moments  and experiences through their excellent work in publishing.
